Inspiration was from multiple angles. One is Edward Hopper and the naming of this work made it sound right. A second one is a Belgian artist Bart Deglin, making charcoal drawings of people on a neutral background.

Accidentally the lines of the tiled floor make a perfect perspective in the picture giving more depth to it.
